More about our Adults Programs

Our core program centers on the conditioning, skills and attributes essential for most fighting applications. Training in the Core Program is a prerequisite for Fighter Training and MMA, but Core Program classes are by no means limited to sport fighters alone. Beginners to the martial arts can sign up in order to build a strong foundation in all-round fighting technique, while more experienced martial artists can strengthen an existing foundation by learning advanced techniques and methods.

What are Core Program classes like?

The training includes: 


  • Mastery of fundamental and advanced kickboxing skills: hand strikes, kicks, movement, close work
  • Conditioning: calisthenics for fitness, and other exercises for improved strength, speed, endurance and agility
  • Introduction to ground fighting skills with a focus on how to avoid getting there in the first place
  • Self Defense: Practical application of learned techniques
Is it for me?

Core Program training is suitable and desirable for anyone seeking to gain a strong grounding in the fundamentals of fighting, for anyone interested in training martial arts for health and fitness, and for those interested in pursuing competitive/sport-based fighting. Previous martial arts experience is neither necessary, nor required. All shapes, sizes, sexes, and levels of fitness and ability accepted. Lower age limits may apply – younger trainees may be more suited to the Children’s Program.


What About MMA and Fighter Training?

Mixed Martial Arts is a combination of effective striking and grappling skills that give sport fighters a very well rounded set of skills to use in competition

Our MMA Program builds on the foundations of the Core Program classes to offer more specific and advanced training geared towards sportive/competitive fighting. This training includes Muay Thai, Boxing, submission grappling and take downs.

We offer multiple sparring and grappling classes each week that give students the opportunity to take their Core Program training to the next level and apply these learned techniques against an opponent. Revolution Self Defense also has an active Fight Team that competed in the WKA North American MMA and Kickboxing tournament this June.

How do the MMA classes differ from the Core Program classes?

The training consolidates and goes beyond the material of the Core Program, applying it all within a sport-fighting context. In addition, it includes:

  • An increased focus on clinching and groundwork, with more technical and tactical work
  • An increased focus on conditioning to build competition-level fitness, speed and power
  • More focus on free sparring skills and strategies


How do I enroll in the MMA Program or join the Fight Team?

The MMA program is for those interested in training martial arts in order to pursue competitive/sport-based fighting or those who just wish to take their skills and conditioning to the next level. Previous martial arts experience may be helpful, but is not required to attend classes. All shapes, sizes, sexes, and levels of fitness and ability accepted. We’ll get you to where you need to be.

Enrollment into the Fight Team is a privilege for those that show exceptional work ethic and dedication to training in addition to a strong foundation of skills acquired from Core, Sparring and Grappling classes.

It is the mission of the WKA USA to restore U.S. fighters to their rightful place and prestige within the WKA, and support and promote US fighters competing for world titles, both at home and abroad.

The WKA hosts amateur and professional Muay Thai, kickboxing and MMA events. Their professionalism and history of promoting quality competitive events is one of the many reasons that Revolution Self Defense is proud to be a member of their organization.
